Jerome T. Hagen, Brigadier General, USMC, (Retired)

Jerome T. Hagen recently retired as the Dean, Academic Advising at Hawaii Pacific University. He was born in Norma, North Dakota and attended Minot State Teachers College. He received his B.A. Degree from Syracuse University and his M.A. degree from the University of Michigan.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952, during the Korean War, and following “Boot Camp”, served as a drill instructor at the San Diego Recruit Depot. He subsequently completed Officer Candidate Screening Course, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and rose to the grade of Brigadier General. He flew 483 combat missions in A4 “Skyhawk” aircraft during the Vietnam War where he earned the silver star medal and numerous other decorations.

In 1995, he was commissioned to write a series of articles for The Honolulu Advertiser to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. The articles proved so popular, that they were published as a soft cover book, “War in the Pacific,” by Hawaii Pacific University. The book is currently in its fifth printing.

Mr. Hagen lectures and travels extensively throughout the Pacific.
